Subject: Technical Proposal for the Integration of Medals/Ranks and Assignment of Roles in the Interface of the Official RGC Ladders (Including Room 338 Bolivia).
Dear RGC Administrators and Development Team,
As an active member of the community, I propose the implementation of key functionalities already existing within RGC (the medal/rank system used in Matchmaking) to improve usability, competitive clarity and user experience on the Official Ladders pages.
This integration would address the need to have a visual representation of the player's level and role specialization, information that currently must be managed by the community outside of the official platform.
I. Visual Reference and Implementation Model
To clearly illustrate the proposed improvements (rank system and role filters), we have developed a community model that serves as a reference for the interface:
Visual Reference of the Proposal (Custom Ladder): [https://dotagg.neocities.org/Bolivia]
We propose that Official Ladders adopt this visual and functional clarity. The following are the classification and assignment systems that we request to integrate:
II. Implementation of the Medal/Rank System
We propose the integration of the medal/rank system (Bronze, Silver, Gold, etc.) already known in RGC, so that it is displayed next to the name and score of each player in the Ladder web interface.
For its classification, we suggest applying two differentiated scoring scales, depending on the type of Ladder:
A. Scale for Permanent Ladders (Cumulative)
Applicable to Ladders with long-term data history (e.g. more than 10 years, such as Bolivia) where scores are very high:
Ranges
Bronze (0 – 5,000 points)
Silver (5,000 – 10,000 points)
Gold (10,000 – 20,000 points)
Platinum (20,000 – 30,000 points)
Diamond (30,000 – 40,000 points)
Divine (40,000 – 50,000 points)
Immortal (50,000+ points)
B. Ladder Ladder Scale with Points Reset (Temporary)
Applicable to Rooms with periodic score resets or where the initial (base) score is low:
Ranges
Bronze (0 – 1,600 points)
Silver (1,600 – 1,800 points)
Gold (1,800 – 2,000 points)
Platinum (2,000 – 2,300 points)
Diamond (2,300 – 2,600 points)
Divine (2,600 – 3,000 points)
Immortal (3,000+ points)
III. Role Assignment and Filters by Role
We propose the implementation of a main Role tag for each player, allowing a deeper analysis of the community's specialization:
Role Assignment Mechanism (KDA-based)
The player's Role would be automatically calculated and assigned based on their average KDA (Kills + Assists / Deaths) stat:
- High KDA: Players with a high average KDA tend to play mid/carry positions.
- Balanced KDA: Players with balanced or slightly lower KDA may be classified as Offlaners or Roamers.
- Low KDA, High Assists: Players with a low KDA but a high number of Assists (A) are statistically Supports.
Once the role (or a main role category) is assigned, a filter could be added to the Ladder interface so that users can see the ranking of the best Carries, Mids, or Supports.
Key Benefits of this Proposal:
- Player Motivation: Ranks offer clear goals and a sense of progress beyond the raw score.
- Competitive Clarity: Makes it easier to identify a player's level to organize games or tournaments.
- Game Structure: Role-playing reinforces the importance of team play and specialization in DotA.
I appreciate your time to consider this proposal, which seeks to align RGC's web interface with the competitive needs and game structure of the community.
