I have to admit that I sometimes consider going to iCCup too because I enjoy playing the classic 6.83–6.88 maps. However, I continue to stay on RGC because it provides stable ping for Southeast Asian players like me. That said, I still hope RGC could make some changes—for example, allowing room hosts to alternate between the official 7.03 map and the classic 6.85 map—so that players can choose the map they prefer on regional public servers.

Regional public servers are where the largest number of players gather, and offering only one map version leaves no room for the pure DotA 1 gameplay without Dota 2-style features. Allowing classic and modern maps to coexist on regional public servers would provide more options for different playstyles without fragmenting the community, and help retain players who enjoy pure DotA 1 gameplay without Dota 2-style features.

I hope RGC Officials or Administrators can review this discussion when convenient. I am sharing this from a community perspective in hopes of helping keep pure DotA 1 playable on regional public servers.

I am a DotA 1 player from  Singapore, currently only playing on the Thailand server.  I really appreciate the effort to maintain DotA 1, but I would like to share a suggestion regarding map versions.

Many pure DotA 1 players, including myself, prefer v6.85 or 6.83–6.88 maps — the pure DotA experience without Dota 2-style features (talent tree & Shrine).
The current v7.03 maps feel closer to Dota 2 and actually push pure DotA 1 players away.

My suggestion is: for public servers, please offer both v7.03 and v6.85 (or other classic) maps, instead of only opening v7.03. This way, players who prefer pure DotA 1 maps can have a choice, and more players will stay active on the servers.
